name of the term: surge current

Non-repetitive peak current IS that may occur non-repetitively and briefl y in the event of a fault. In our catalogues and data sheets, we specifiy maximum surge currents which may occur up to 1000 times with a duration of 50 ms each. The design of our PFC and three-phase filter capacitors permits short term inrush currents of 100…400 x IN, depending on construction and voltage rating.
